Creating Value by Delivering IBM ECM Solutions at BC Hydro

Session ID: ECM-1296 (link) | 2016-10-24 | 03:00 PM - 03:45 PM

Just buying ECM software is not enough to achieve successful and long-running ECM solutions. BC Hydro's ECM implementation is based on the IBM FileNet P8 platform with over 30 solutions in use, making FileNet the authoritative source of information. We will share our experience in delivering ECM projects and driving the change through the organization, plus key success factors. We will explain commonalities and differences between ECM and other IT projects. The discussion will cover BC Hydro's lessons learned, and what current and prospective customers need to expect and what to avoid when implementing ECM projects. We will also provide examples of recent successes like integrations with McLaren, SAP and Microsoft SharePoint and Dynamics.

A Major Retailer Goes Bankrupt: One Supplier Mitigates the Ripple Effect with Advanced Analytics

Session ID: ALY-1843 (link) | 2016-10-25 | 04:00 PM - 04:45 PM

Many ?big-box? retailers have disappeared from the landscape. The closing of one major retail customer can have a significant financial impact and a ripple effect for its suppliers. In this session, we?ll share the story of a customer that used the IBM Advanced Analytics platform to dramatically reduce the impact to their bottom line after a major retail customer's bankruptcy.

Getting the Most Out of BLU: IBM DB2 BLU Best Practices for SAP Systems

Session ID: DMT-2363 (link) | 2016-10-26 | 09:00 AM - 09:45 AM

This session summarizes the lessons learned from recent IBM DB2 BLU conversion projects. It explains how to configure DB2 BLU databases for optimal performance. This affects not only the DB2 configuration, like the sizing of DB2 memory consumers to make sure all active data fits into memory, but also the application configuration, like which tables/objects to convert to BLU. We will also look at the different approaches to convert systems to DB2 BLU, and what can be done to accelerate conversion times and to minimize conversion downtime.

Using IBM DB2 BLU 11.1 for SAP Business Warehouse for Scalability and Performance Improvements

Session ID: DMT-2612 (link) | 2016-10-25 | 03:00 PM - 03:45 PM

This session overviews how the new IBM DB2 11.1 BLU technology extensions are seamlessly integrated into SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW). Very fast SAP BW query processing on very large BW objects with billions of records is the major benefit of DB2 BLU for SAP BW. Among the highlights, we will demonstrate how the new BLU MPP option allows large SAP BW system scalability. We will show that the usage of new DB2 11.1 OLAP functions allows additional function push-down from the SAP BW application server into the DB2 database server. This improves SAP BW query performance up to many factors. Finally, we'll share best practices to run SAP BW on DB2 11.1 most efficiently.

IBM DB2 on SAP: DB2 11.1 Update and Recent Developments

Session ID: DMT-2629 (link) | 2016-10-24 | 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM

This session gives an overview of recent SAP on DB2 extensions, and explains which DB2 11.1 features are most important for SAP applications. SAP made a fundamental paradigm change around transferring SAP application processing into the database using the SAP Core Data Services (CDS) framework. We will demonstrate further DB2 optimizations for this important SAP CDS framework. Additional highlights include performance-optimized DB2 tablespace layout, improved monitoring capabilities, further BLU optimizations, IBM Text Search integration into SAP, DB2 backup performance improvements and DB2 administration extensions. Finally, learn how DB2 11.1 reduces TCO of SAP on DB2 systems, and how to improve SAP on DB2 performance substantially.

Dive into Enterprise Bots for ERP: Organize Your Enterprise and Let Bots Do the Talking

Session ID: CLB-3276 (link) | 2016-10-26 | 08:00 AM - 08:45 AM

Bots are lightweight programs that communicate with applications or business systems on the user?s behalf to get tasks done. Bots offer an easy-to-use, conversational interface that leverages natural language so users can communicate to systems just like they talk to people. Applying Bots for ERP can streamline business tasks including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Production Planning, etc. Bots can be easily integrated with backend SAP ERP systems so employees can update data and information in the backend without entering the SAP system transactions. These bots can also be leveraged to guide employees through workflows via a chat-based interface that takes them end-to-end in completing their business tasks and priorities.
