I am pleased to announce three upcoming IBM DB2 Proof of Technology sessions in Salt Lake City, UT in February. In these sessions you can learn about three different data integration products:
Federation Server: Feb 26, 2008
Rational Data Architect: Feb 27, 2008
Replication Server: Feb 28, 2008
Each will be held on a separate day and are independent so you can come to just the sessions that interest you. These sessions are for everyone including DBAs, Data Architects, and other IT professionals who want to learn more about data integration or evaluate it with a more in depth approach.

WebSphere Federation Server allows you to create virtual databases. By that I mean that this product allows you to create DB2 databases with objects that look like tables or views to your application, but are really tables or other objects in other relational databases like Oracle or SQL Server or other non-relational data sources such as files or Excel Spreadsheets. You can join all local objects and remote objects with each other in individual queries and you can also update objects in various data sources in a single transaction. IBM has added many features to make this perform very well, so if you have multiple data sources then this may be quite valuable to you.
Rational Data Architect (RDA) is a database modeling and enterprise data modeling tool. You can use it to create logical and physical data models of individual databases and groups of related databases. It works with all major database vendors' products. It can reverse engineer existing databases and discover the relationships between them and then allow you to annotate those objects and relationships discovered. You can also use this information to model your virtual database and then generate the scripts for WebSphere Federation Server to build the virtual database. RDA can also import ErWin data and is one of the few modeling tools that can run under Windows and Linux.
WebSphere Replication Server allows you to replicate data between different IBM and non-IBM databases. Q Replication a high performance product that can be configured to ensure guaranteed delivery between different vendors, such as replicating between DB2 on zOS and SQL Server. Many organizations need to move data between databases quickly as data changes. If this sounds like something that you need, then come test drive Replication Server.
